Strikes and other industrial actions

Participating in a strike or other industrial actions organised by a trade union or its member association is always legal in Finland. If you are a member of Pro and lose your earnings as a result of a strike, we will pay you a strike pay.

A strike or work stoppage is a form of industrial action in which people refuse to work. Participation in a strike organised by a trade union or its member association is always legal.

Overtime ban prohibits work outside regular working hours

Under the ban on overtime work, workers are prohibited from doing all work outside regular working hours. Such work is, for example, the accumulation of flexitime, actual extra work and overtime work, additional work and overtime related to on-call work outside regular working hours, and work-related travel outside regular working hours. Under a ban on shift changes, employees are prohibited from changing shifts at the request of the employer.

Strike pay compensates for lost earnings during a strike

If you lose your earnings as a result of a work stoppage, we will pay you a strike pay. You need a valid Pro membership. You are entitled to strike pay from the date of joining if you are on strike.
