All members who either in working life or available to the labour market are eligible for election and to vote. The representative body has members from each of the union’s industry sectors proportionally to the number of their members. Majority elections guarantee that the representative body has members from all parts of the country. The representative body is Trade Union Pro’s highest decision-making body, elected by the union members. The representative body confirms the policies of Pro, selects the president of the union, and supervises the operations of the board. In addition, it decides on the order of a vote and election, membership fee, and the share of membership fees returned to the member organisations. Eelections of Pro’s Representative Body The representatives are elected by the members of the union. A member of the union who has the right to vote and is eligible for election can be elected to the representative body and the board of directors in the representative body elections. Entitled to vote and eligible for election are members in working life or available on the labor market. The representative board must have members from each sector of the union, so that the sector's representation is in proportion to its number of members. The majority vote ensures that the representative council has employees from all over Finland. Candidates for the election can be nominated by the union's member associations and independent voter associations. A voter association can be formed by at least twenty voting members of the same sector. The principles of organizing representative elections are defined in the association's rules. More detailed regulations are given in the voting and election order approved by the Council of Representatives. The board - manages the funds and other property of the union - oversees collective agreement operations and supervision of interests - decides on the operational and financial plan of the union each year. - convenes the meetings of the representative body and prepares the issues to be discussed in them. What the Board does? The board of Trade Union Pro appoints contract field-specific and, if necessary, sector-specific negotiation boards for the duration of its term. In addition, the board can establish forums for research, education or language-based groups and other groups carrying out the operations of the union. The term of the Pro board and its chairperson (chairperson of the union) is four years. In addition to the chairperson, the board consists of 15–20 members. The representative body selects the members of the board from all four sectors of Pro so that the representation of each sector is in relation to its number of members.
