The IT and business consulting services company CGI received the Ethical Recruitment Award today. Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen presented the award at the UusioUra event organized by Trade Union Pro.
According to the jury, CGI has successfully integrated age diversity into its HR policies: one in four new recruits last year was over 55.
– Through age management, the company ensures that every career remains meaningful until the very end, says jury chair Minea Pyykönen.
Research supports age management
CGI employs around 3,700 people in Finland, nearly 30 percent of whom are over 55. According to Vice President Human Resources Saara Lindfors, recruitment at CGI focuses on skills and potential—not age.
Company studies show that employees over 55 are the most productive and satisfied. They also have fewer sick leaves than others.
– These results demonstrate that we have been particularly successful in engaging our most experienced employees and supporting their well-being, Lindfors smiles.
Support for different life situations
CGI’s principle is to recognize the diverse life situations of its employees. Flexibility is clearly integrated into everyday work through the company-specific collective agreement.
CGI fosters a workplace community where equality and diversity are put into practice. For example, experienced employees have their own peer network. Once an employee turns 60, they can discuss their wishes and needs for the final years of their career with their manager.
– Age management is a growing theme, and other companies can learn from CGI, says Pyykönen.
