During the day, participants got to know employers and educational institutions and followed interesting speeches, panel discussions and information sessions. Active visitors enthusiastically participated in the events and looked for tips for a new career.
– The popularity of the event pleasantly surprised us. UusioUra has clearly earned its place in promoting the employment of experienced professionals, says Director Minea Pyykönen from the Trade Union Pro.
– It also offers employers an attractive opportunity to find new motivated employees and educational institutions to reach enthusiastic students, she continues.
Age discrimination in working life is unfortunately familiar to the trade union. Talking about the issue is important, but Pro wanted something more. Instead of talking, it is time to change attitudes.
– There is a lot of talk about age discrimination. We wanted to offer actions so that people over 45 can start a new career and show their skills in working life, Pyykönen says.
Inspiring speeches and self-confidence
The main stage of the event, the Duunitori stage, attracted a large audience. The engaging host Mikko Kuustonen invited interesting speakers to the stage, such as well-being coach Jutta Larm. Jutta Larm emphasized to the audience that it is never too late to start a new career.
– Life is here and now, Jutta Larm smiled.
The speeches emphasized a strong message: the expertise of people over 45 is valuable and they are needed in working life. UusioUra also encouraged people to train towards new dreams.
– In today's vocational adult education, nothing can stop a passionate person, encouraged Nuutti Manninen, Sales and Marketing Director of Taitotalo.
The day's diverse offerings were complemented by panel discussions and information sessions, which provided tips on, for example, job searching and eradicating age discrimination.
The workshops filled up in record time
The UusioUra workshops were very popular. Participants received, for example, valuable tips on writing a CV and using LinkedIn and artificial intelligence in job searching. They also looked for hidden jobs and mapped out their own skills.
– The workshops filled up quickly, and unfortunately not everyone who wanted to could attend, even though we increased the number of participants, says Pyykönen.
However, Pyykönen has good news. Next year, UusioUra will be even more amazing.
– It's worth marking the date 23–24 September 2025 in your calendar now. There will be great job and training opportunities as well as current information on job searching and working life trends.
The successful UusioUra received a lot of praise from the participants because it offered concrete help with job searching and a new career.
See you again next year!
