The new government programme includes several goals held dear by Pro, such as working life regulation, more training during working hours and three-tier cooperation. Trade Union Pro regards the new government programme as providing a good basis for the development of working life and extended working careers.

- The working life aspect of the programme is well balanced and directs discussion on how to extend working careers into measurable, tangible realities, Antti Rinne, the President of Pro proclaims.

According to Rinne, the 89-page document promises good three-tier cooperation between the government and the labour market organizations. The programme indicates that the government is strongly committed to advance things by negotiating and agreeing, Rinne stresses.

He is also satisfied with the obligation being placed on the Ministry of Employment and the Economy to prepare a proper development strategy for working life. In addition, a three-tier task force will be nominated by the government to make proposals on how to improve regulation of working life.

Pro is pleased with the commitment to analyse various forms of labour and willingness to amend legislation to promote and further equality, regardless of the extension and the juridical form of employment.

The programme includes a plan to improve employees' rights when it comes to participating in training. If this is implemented, it will give the best possible security to employees who find themselves in the midst of labour market changes, Rinne says.
