The unions guarantee that many benefits already established in our everyday life, such as the 8-hour working time, annual leaves and overtime pay will prevail in future, too.
It is the cooperation that makes the wage earners strong: a representative of thousands of employees has much greater influence than an individual employee in negotiating the terms and conditions of employment.
In order for employees to shape the terms of employment more easily, the law grands them the opportunity to organize through workers' associations. Together, the associations form trade unions that can negotiate collective agreements with the employees' associations.
