The Union of Insurance Employees in Finland VvL and Trade Union Pro have decided to merge on 1 January 2021. VvL’s Union Council made the decision on 9 October and Pro’s Executive Committee a week earlier on 2 October. Trade Union Pro’s name and logo will continue to be in use.

– It is outstanding for both to Insurance Sector and to entire Finance Sector to join the forces for strong advocacy and bargaining work on national and international level, says Liisa Halme, the President of VvL.  

– Increasing the power of trade unions is needed to protect and enhance the interests of members in this rapidly changing world. The merger will strengthen sectoral collective bargaining and give better membership services, concludes Trade Union Pro’s President Jorma Malinen.

After the merger, Trade Union Pro will represent nearly 130 000 members. Pro’s members are trained professionals, experts and managerial staff in both private and public sector.
